Our Little Sydon Lee Arrived Thursday March 29th. I really was trying to hold him in until April so we could have different birthday months for everyone but he had other plans! It'd been a busy hectic week and after Parent Teacher conferences Wednesday night things got real! haha I'd been contracting on and off all day which wasn't anything new. some of them i felt really good others I only felt my belly tightening. I tried relaxing and around 8pm or so i was uncomfortable and tried laying down to get them to go away because i was really shooting for that April baby! haha I had an induction date all set up for April 3rd the day after my due date even! Anywho laying down didn't work and then I kept having to get up to use the bathroom and then all of a sudden at 10pm I was wanting to puke and got the chills and was shivering and my contractions were minutes apart and i was like "Lee! I'm totally in labor! But it's not April yet danget!! Get dressed and I'll call Julie to come over with the kids" So Lee got dressed and got our hospital bag and Julie came over right away and luckily she wasn't in bed yet even so I didn't even have to worry about waking her up in the middle of the night. and a littel after 10 we were off to the hospital! and of course my contractions started slowing down in the car and weren't terrible at all but i was definitely still having them. We got to the hospital around 10:30pm on Wednesday and they lead us into the exam room and checked me and I was still only a 3 and 60% dialated! I was so sure i was going to atleast be 4cm when we got there but no. So I got to walk the halls for over an hour to try to progress a little more. Sidenote: when the nurse came in she asked if I was there for a scheduled C section and I was like " definitely no! " lol They got me confused with someone else and luckily that didn't go any further haha So I got to walk the halls in the super hot hospital gown and nude colored fuzzy tractoin bottomed socks they gave me! oh yeah i was styling! too bad i didn't make lee take a picture! hahahaha! NOT! so anyways My contractions picked up out in the hallway but they weren't hurting and were still kind of irregular but i was totally having them so after an hour or two they took me back and checked me again and i was still the same so they wanted to monitor my contractions a little longer and call my midwife and see what she wanted to do with me. and I was having awesome contractions for the monitor that i could totally feel while i was sitting there being monitored but i was still worried they were just going to send me home since i wasn't that magical 4cm. But to my surprise the nurse came back in and was like "ok lets take you across the hall and get your IV and meds going!" I was tired from walking the halls in the middle of the night and so relieved I was going to stay! I tested Positive for Group B Strep this pregnancy which has NEVER happened before so I needed to get the 4hrs of IV meds in before labor really started taking off so lucky for me I think that was another determining factor for me staying because once my water breaks or I'm super in labor I have babies in 4hrs or less. So it was about 2am and I got to stay and they got my IV hooked up and started the meds and then my L&D nurse told me to let them know when i wanted an epidural and the anesthesiologist was still at the hospital so I opted to get it right away even though I wasn't hurting yet haha so he came in and got it all put in and done super fast and then I threw up (normal for me after i get an epidural) and then my blood pressure totally tanked and got really low and I got SUPER light headed and couldn't breath like i had something super heavy on my chest and luckily my nurse had the blood pressure meds for me on hand just in case cuz I ended up needing it to raise my blood pressure and she had to keep giving me doses here and there too and i threw up a couple more times one of which didn't make into the puke bag so i got to change my gown LOL yeah it was real cute i'm sure LOL so anyway they decided to just let me rest for the 4hrs i needed the groub b strep meds and then they'd come check on me to see how i'd progressed. Well my contractions continued to be crazy and irregular so around 4am after i got 4hrs of those meds and no sleep my midwife came in and broke my water and my contractions picked right back up again and were super consistent and close together and they just sorta died off AGAIN being really irregular but i had progressed to 4cm so they put a peanut ball between my legs and they started pitocin to get my contractions consistent! so a little after 6 it was nurse changing time and i got a new nurse and threw up a few more times ( I'm pretty sure i threw up because i was in transition which is also normal for me but i'm sure my low blood pressure didn't help anything) and then I told my nurse about 6:30-7am you might want to check me because i'm feeling a lot of pressure so she checked and was like "oh wow your complete!" and she ran out to go call my midwife to come back ( i think she went home and got another hour or so of sleep haha) so then a little bit later my midwife showed up and was like let's have a baby! and got her scrubs on and they got everything all ready for baby and because i was sooooo numb (ridiculously numb) from the super good epidural i got. Lee got the honor of holding my leg for me and as soon as he took my leg and my midwife was finishing putting on her scrubs she said " Oh there's baby! we can already see him!" hahaha Then she told me to push and I pushed one push and he was out! It was so ridiculously fast and easy we all just laughed! I didn't tear or anything at all and baby was doing so good being on my chest he got to stay there for the next couple hours! It was awesome and my midwife made the comment "Let's have 5 more babies just like that Michelle!" haha She loves how easy my pregnancy and deliveries are and i can't blame her i love it too! haha So that was that he arrived at 7:16am and is perfect! and after he stopped crying he was wide eyed and awake and looking around we just couldn't believe how alert he was! It's only been two weeks but we can't imagine life without our little Sydon! The kids adore him and i can't stop kissing and holding him! and I seriously feel so awesome. This recovery has been amazing I totally feel like my normal self minus core strength hahaha I wish I could stay young forever and have 10 more babies just like him! haha He's a super good eater too! He latched right away no problems at all! Today we had his two week appt and he's 7lbs 14oz so he's already gained back his birthweight plus 6oz! he dropped down to 7lbs 1 oz at 4days old so i'm glad he's gained it all back and then some! He's definitely a good little eater and likes to eat every hour or two if I'm lucky! haha
this was around 2:30am when i knew we were for sure staying and having baby and lee had settled in for a nap haha I couldn't sleep.
